The Interchange on Canadian Studies/Échange sur les études canadiennes is a not-for-profit organization constituted by a Charter of Incorporation and By-laws. The Board of Directors is the governing body and presides over the business affairs of the organization. The Board consists of seventeen members and is made up of four executive members and one director from each of the provinces and territories.
The National Conference Coordinator is responsible for the planning, administering and hosting of the annual conference. ICS/ÉÉC operations are conducted by the table officers of the corporation (the Executive), together with the National Coordinator who is included with the executive as an ex-officio member .
Our first conference was held in Newtonbrook , Ontario in 1972 and was called the Newtonbrook Conference on Canadian Studies. The next two conferences were called the Canadian Studies Forum. Since 1975, the organization has been called the Interchange on Canadian Studies/Échange sur les études canadiennes. Ideally the conference alternates among eastern, western, and northern locations.
